Doyon Emerald Completes FAA Alaska Community Benefits Study
Emerald Consulting Group LLC (Doyon Emerald) is pleased to announce the completion of a community benefits study for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Doyon Emerald conducted the study between April and October of 2008 to better understand how General Aviation supports Alaskan communities and identify how FAA Flight Services contribute to General Aviation and the communities in Alaska. The Doyon Emerald team used a multi-disciplinary approach to successfully complete the study.
The scope of this project included developing an approved study plan, conducting interviews throughout Alaska, compiling information from public data research, and preparing a final report. The study team visited over 20 locations during the data gathering phase of this project, including most major transportation hubs in rural Alaska. The team conducted interviews with community members, air taxi and airline operators, pilots, business owners, and other aviation users to gather data on the role of aviation in the community.
The final report to the FAA presents detailed information on the relationship between aviation users, FAA Flight Service Stations, and rural communities in Alaska, as well as recommendations on how to improve these services to communities. The findings will be used to identify opportunities to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of FAA Flight Services in Alaska.
